Athenian Religion

The people of Athens believe in polytheism, meaning that, unlike Christians, they believe in several Gods. In order for the ancient Greeks to better understand the aspects of life, they created many Gods, Goddesses and myths. The myths were about rulers of the seas, land, e.t.c. Sometimes, they were about half-gods and half-humans (half-blood, or demigod) such as Heracles, who later became known as Hercules.

Easter is the most important celebration for Greeks, even more than Christmas! On Good Thursday or Good Saturday, the women of the house dye eggs red and bake red buns. Good Friday is the day of mourning, where we acknowledge our saviour who dies for us.
